Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund

Qualifying Elgin youth can apply for a $125 credit to use toward any City of Elgin recreation program. This credit often covers more than one program fee, which means our players get even more time to exercise, build healthy relationships, and develop practical skills. These opportunities promote health, appreciation of the outdoors, and leadership among our community’s at-risk youth.

Recreation Programs

Several recreation programs are sponsored by the Foundation and made available, free of charge, to Elgin youth who might especially benefit from them. These include activities such as the “Kids and Cops” golf and fishing lessons and swim programs. Our hope is that these opportunities to build productive and humanizing relationships with the police will establish trust and mutual respect between our young people and the EPD.

Elgin Parks

Elgin is blessed to have many beautiful and historic places, like Gifford, Lords, Wing, and Trout parks. We have partnered with other Elginites who value these spaces, working together to make sure they are properly maintained, preserved, and improved for future generations.

Most recently, the Foundation funded the addition of pre-school playground equipment to the Hawthorne Hill Nature Center and the replacement of the scoreboard at the Trout Park baseball diamonds.
